The Church Academy
Doctrinal StatementWe have listed some of the teachings of the The Church & The Church Academy for your information.  If you have any questions concerning anything that is not mentioned please do ask.
We believe and teach the following as found in the Bible.
1.   The Divine inspiration of the Bible, equally in all parts and without error in its origin (II Timothy 3:16-17)

2.   The one God, eternally existent Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Who created by immediate act: (Genesis, chapter 1; I John 1:1-3 and Colossians 1:16-17).

3.   The pre-existence, incarnation, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, ascension to Heaven, and the second coming of Jesus Christ.

4.   The fall of man; the need for salvation through believing in Christ (John 8:24); repenting of living a life out of the will of God (II Peter 3:9); confessing Christ as our Savior (Romans 10:9-10) and being immersed in water for the forgiveness of sins and the reception of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38 and Titus 3:5); living a godly life (I Timothy 6:11); faithful church attendance (Hebrews 10:25).

5.   The spiritual relationship of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, living a life of righteous works, separated from the world, witnessing of His saving grace through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Our General Philosophy

The Church Academy works with students on an individualized basis.  The entire curriculum is set up so that a student works on the academic level that meets their present ability.  We give a diagnostic test to determine this level.  If they have learning gaps, these will be filled in.  Those who excel in their work may advance at a faster rate.  A slow learner may progress at a rate which enables them to absorb the material.  We use the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum.  (A.C.E.)

Each student is assigned an office that consists of a working surface, a bulletin board which they can decorate to their own taste, and side dividers to prevent them from being distracted by their neighbors.

Our curriculum consists of 12 workbooks per subject, per grade level.  A student must complete each workbook with an 80% or higher test score before they are able to go on to material beyond that point.

We test our students annually on national achievement tests (Stanford 10 Achievement Test) to assure they are making satisfactory progress.  We also encourage our high school students to take the ACT and SAT college assessment tests.  All candidates for graduations must take and pass the Nevada State Proficiency Exam.

Students are encouraged to set goals and accomplish them, develop social skills with peers based on Biblical principles, and seek academic excellence.

Our goal is to educate our students in an atmosphere which promotes learning of a spiritual, moral and academic nature.
School ScheduleThe Academy follows a regular nine month school year and observes most national holidays.  A calendar of events and holidays is available in the school office.  Except for holiday, vacations, etc., school will begin at 8:00 A.M., Monday through Friday.  Students will be dismissed at 3:00 P.M.  Students must leave the school grounds by 3:30 P.M. unless otherwise arranged with the staff.  We do not offer any after school care.
GraduationOur school does not accept students on the basis that their graduation is determined by a pre-set date, or by the student's age.  Graduation is determined by performance, not chronology.  Time is not a factor; learning is.  Therefore, students remain in the program until they have learned the prescribed course of material.  This is a pre-arranged by a meeting of the parents and staff and cannot be changed by the students themselves, except with the consent of the parents.  Parents and students need to understand that putting off completing a pace workbook only adds additional days to the projected graduation date.

We require that each student obtain at least 23 credits and in the required subjects for graduation.  One credit is given for every 12 paces completed in a given subject.  It is also mandatory that the student take and pass the Nevada High School Proficiency Exam.

Academy admission policies and procedures

1.  The CHURCH ACADEMY recognizes that it cannot meet the educational needs of all children.  It is a school offering a high quality of Christian training, but not designed to be a correctional institution for problems arising beyond those usually encountered in average school children.  While we love delinquent and emotionally unstable children, the school is not equipped to meet their needs.  Some children do not adjust to a disciplined academic environment and find excuse to criticize the policies and decisions of staff and administration.  In such cases, the school reserves the right to have full discretion in discipline as considered appropriate.  To place a student on probation for a reasonable corrective period of time and to dismiss any student who does not cooperate with the total educational process are options that we reserve the right to implement.  (Proverbs 22:6) "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."

2.  Read and sign the Statement of Support.

3.  Admission Procedures:
A.    Schedule an interview with the principal or supervisor.  (Both parents and student)

B.    Attend at least one church service of The Church.

C.    Pick up applications "package" from the school office.

D.    Complete and return an application for each child accompanied by: Application fee, Medical History form, Medical Consent form, Statement of Support form, Standard of Conduct form, immunization records (current and up to date) and request for Transfer of Records.

E.    Parents will be notified of acceptances after the interview and after attendance at the required church service.

F.    If accepted, the student shall be registered upon payment of Registration Fee and first months pledge. (Tuition)

G.    Accepted students will be given diagnostic testing the first few days of school to determine where to place them in the curriculum.
4.  Admissions to the CHURCH ACADEMY are without regard to race, color, national or ethnic origin.  (Acts 10:34-35) "Then Peter began to speak: 'I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism, but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right...'"
